My name is Mnqobi Kunene I am 28 years old and I’m originally from Emondlo which is just a small township before Vryheid, the North Side of KZN.
I’m one of the founders and trainer of Zulutransformerz. What inspired me to a lifestyle change was myself. Ive always been passionate about fitness, always wanted to inspire, be a role model, to add value in other people’s lives. I used to play Club Rugby not so long ago and I got to a point where I felt like I wasn’t challenged enough in terms of training so I decided to change my style of training which is now bodyweight training. I used to lift weights in order for me to gain muscle. I had the mentality that If I wanted to look big and ripped I needed to lift heavy weights which instead gave me different results so then I decided to change my style of training to get where I wanted to be so I switched to bodyweight training which is much more challenging. I started doing a lot of cardio which helped me drop a lot of weight in a short period of time, I then also started doing the basics of body weight training such as the plank, mountain climbers the bear-plank and had to focus more on core exercises as well for abdominal strength but then it wasn’t just about the training, I had to change my way of eating completely which was the most challenging. I’ve been doing bodyweight training for 2 years now and I’m loving the benefits. I weighed 115kg before I started now I’m 88kg.
